Backpack Buddies

Just in time for school! Create these bead creatures and add to them your backpack for an awesome day at school.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:

For Lilly the Ladybug you will need: 2 Yards of Black Satin Cording, 20 Black Bright Pony/Crow Beads, 38 Red Bright Pony/Crow Beads, 1 Key Ring and LadyBug Instructions.pdf

For Jake the Snake you will need: 2-1/2 Yards of Black Satin Cording, 56 Blue Pearl Pony/Crow Beads, 31 White Pearl Pony/Crow Beads, 1 Key Ring and Snake Instructions.pdf

1. Fold Black Satin Cording in half. Place loop end through the middle of the key ring and fold loop over forwards. Bring cut ends through loop (like illustration on the right) and pull tight. After attaching cording to the key ring, tape key ring to a sturdy surface like a table. This will make it easier when you are tightening the rows of beads.

Now you're ready to start adding beads.

2. Following the appropriate instruction sheet, weave beads row by row. Insert one end of the cording through a row of beads, then insert the other end of the cording back through the same row, going in the opposite direction. Pull cording tight so beads are snug against the row ahead of it.

3. After adding the last row of beads, tie a double knot. Cut off excess cording and add a drop of glue to secure the knot so it won't come undone. Let dry and attach the key ring to your backpack.

Suggestion: To make each creature special try two different colored beads other than the ones mentioned.
